Izu Aniagu, a lawyer, petitioned the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) in 2020 to have Malami’s Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank removed. Malami unilaterally deleted certain provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners in violation of the law, according to Aniagu’s petition, which received over 10,000 online signatures. Aniagu later accused the LPPC and Chief Justice Tanko Muhammad of deliberately delaying action on his petition in 2020.
