    John Ikechukwu Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu, was a Nigerian actor, singer, producer and comedian.

    Here are the 8 facts you should know about Mr. Ibu:

    1. Mr. Ibu was born on 17 October 1961 in Enugu State, and died March 2, 2024.

    2. The veteran actor was considered one of the most talented comedians in Nigeria.

    3. Mr. Ibu joined the Nigerian film industry in 1998 but was unable to secure lucrative parts because producers were unwilling to give him the opportunity to display his ability in significant movies.

    4. Mr. Ibu rose to notoriety in 2004 with his performance in the hit comedic movie “Mr. Ibu.” He portrayed the father of a troubled son. Osita Iheme took on the role of the son.

    5. His performance in the film earned him the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Comic Actor in Nigeria in 2005.

    6. Mr. Ibu appeared in more than 200 Nollywood films, including Mr. Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr. Ibu in London, Police Recruit, 9 Wives, Ibu in Prison, and Keziah amongst others.

    7. In November 2023, Mr. Ibu underwent a leg amputation after suffering from an illness that required seven surgeries. His family said the amputation was done to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery.

    8. Unfortunately, Mr. Ibu died on 2 March 2024, at the age of 62.
