Edo Deputy Governor Walks Out After Aides Were Denied Entry

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on Monday, walked out of the venue of a government function after his aides were denied entry by security officials.

Governor Godwin Obaseki had hosted a colloquium held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Airport Road, in Benin to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Midwest Referendum.

Shaibu arrived at the venue alongside some aides during the governor’s opening remarks but some security operatives at the entrance of the hall barred the aides from entering the hall.

In a viral video of the incident on social media, the security operatives tried to explain to Shaibu amid the ensuing drama, but he insisted that his aides “must come with me”.

Shaibu then told his aides, “let’s go” after failed efforts to reach an amicable agreement with the officers.
