The Executive Chairman, Uruan Local Government Area, Akwa ibom state, Hon. Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong, received members of the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), a unit in the State Ministry of Health, on a courtesy visit in his office at Idu.
The team which was led by the state Coordinator (NTDs), Dr Aniekeme Uwah, said that the visit was to intimate the Ekpenyong on the free assessment survey to be carried out in Idu-Uruan and Ndon Ebom respectively as base for Uruan Local government.
Uwah, who noted that Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a group of diseases that occur under tropical and sub-tropical climate conditions and are intimately linked to poverty as they therefore thrive in areas where access to adequate sanitation, clean water and healthcare was limited. He further appealed for the Council’s assistant to aid the mobilization of selected communities for the two day programme in the Area.
Ekpenyong while commending the state Cordinator NTDs, assured the team of the councils utmost cooperation and support to bring the needed result and also interventions at the areas that need recommendations from the team as healthcare remains one of the areas that would be given the needed attention by his administration.
Ekpeyong who promised to work around the clock to make Uruan local government Area better environment for anybody to stay.
