    National Association of A’IBOM Medical Students (NAAKIMS WW) To Celebrate World Cancer Day

    An umbrella of student doctors of Akwa Ibom state Origin across the world, will on Thursday, 4th February, 2021 storm Ini LGA, the country home of The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Glory E Edet to mark the 2021 World Cancer Day for a Cancer Awareness campaign and free Medical Outreach. The event, which is sponsored by the Honourable Commissioner has as its Theme: I AM AND I WILL . It is celebrated globally to create and raise cancer awareness its causes, risk factors, signs and symptom to help in early detection as well as sensitize people of measures to prevent this malady which is increasing in incidence, morbidity and mortality rates in developing countries with breast and cervical cancer as the leading cause of mortality among our women and prostrate cancer in males.

    The event, which will kick start tomorrow with Radio program sensitization and Social media promotion

    will also feature:

    – Free health counseling and advocacy

    – Distribution of flyers containing information about cancer in the local dialect of the state

    – Free medical tests and counselling

    – Support to already diagnosed cases

    – Visit to oncology ward in UUTH to give relief materials and

    – Sensitization on Covid 19 preventive measures

    The outreach which is slated to commence by 10am will take place at the following venues:
    1.Village halll, Ikpe Okot Nkon.
    2. Ini community secondary school, Ikpe Ikot Nkon.
    3.IKpe Community Secondary school, Ibam Edet.
    4.Odoro Ikono Secondary school, Mbiabong Ikot Udofia.

    The splitting of venues is to allow us to maintain all covid-19 preventive measures.

    The women, the elderly, the youth as well as students are enjoined to avail themselves of this rare opportunity.

    All participants must come with their face masks.
