NDLEA Arrests Woman With 266 Rounds Of AK-47 Ammunition Along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a woman identified as Aisha Isah after allegedly recovering 266 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition from her along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

The woman was reportedly arrested at a toll gate during a patrol operation along the highway.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
However, the agency did not reveal where Isah was coming from, her intended destination or the circumstances surrounding the possession of the ammunition. It also did not disclose whether she had been charged to court or transferred to another security agency for further investigation.

The arrest was among several operations conducted by the agency across different states, resulting in the seizure of illicit drugs and the apprehension of suspected traffickers.
In a separate operation along the Zaria-Kano Expressway, NDLEA operatives arrested a 68-year-old man, Ifeanyi Egwolonwu, at Gwargwaje, Zaria, with 2,770 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 100 ampoules of diazepam injection, 11,000 diazepam tablets and 4,500 tablets of Exol-5.

In Kano State, two men, Ziya’ulhaq Abdullahi, 35, and Garba Muhammed, 52, were arrested in the Dorayi area on October 28 with 19,250 pills of tramadol 225mg weighing 13.6 kilogrammes.

Another operation at Tashan Banke led to the arrest of seven suspects, including Faisal Adamu. Operatives also recovered 178.85 kilogrammes of cannabis and quantities of diazepam, tramadol, Exol-5 and pregabalin.
In Sokoto State, the agency arrested two suspects, including 68-year-old Ibrahim Ayuba, who was apprehended on Saturday, October 31, with 236.6 kilogrammes of skunk.
Meanwhile, in Edo State, NDLEA operatives, supported by soldiers, raided Eko Camp in Ilushi, Esan South-East Local Government Area, on October 28.

The operation resulted in the destruction of a 1.646-hectare cannabis plantation with an estimated yield of 4,115.53 kilogrammes.
A 50-year-old woman, Christiana Uboi, was arrested at the camp with 301 kilogrammes of processed cannabis, while another 176 kilogrammes were recovered during the operation.

Similarly, four suspects were arrested during raids on cannabis farms in Ijare Forest, Ondo State, on October 25. Sixteen bags of processed cannabis weighing 180 kilogrammes were recovered.

The NDLEA has yet to provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the 266 rounds of AK-47 ammunition from Isah.
