46-yr-old businessman commits suicide, Leaves Emotional Video Message For Wife, Children
A 46-year-old businessman, identified as Akinbolusere Kayode, has reportedly died by suicide in Ondo Town, Ondo State, leaving behind a video message addressed to his family.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday at his office near BOVAS Petrol Station in Igba Town.
Police detectives attached to the Bolorunduro Division visited the scene and recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained a poisonous substance.
Sources said the deceased had recorded a video before his death, in which he spoke about his business struggles, humble beginnings and relationship with his wife.
In the recording, he reportedly praised his wife for standing by him through difficult times and repeatedly maintained that nobody pressured him into transferring his properties to her and their three children.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said two empty bottles suspected to have contained Sniper insecticide were recovered from a nearby bush during the investigation.
Abayomi added that preliminary findings showed that the businessman had recorded a video in which he spoke about the hardships he experienced in life. The recording has since circulated widely on social media.
His remains were evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.
The police spokesperson also disclosed that no signs of foul play or visible injuries were observed on the body during the initial examination.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the actual cause of death.
Ohagwu urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to carry out their duties.
He also encouraged people experiencing emotional distress, marital difficulties or other personal challenges to seek timely support and assistance.
