BREAKING: Celestial Church Pastor In Trouble Over Alleged S£xual Abuse Of 16-Year-Old Stepdaughter, Thr£atens To Ki|| Her If She Reports Him

A Celestial Church pastor, identified as Omogbolahan Israel Idowu, has been detained by the Ogun State Police Command over allegations that he sexually abused his 16-year-old stepdaughter and threatened to kill her if she exposed him.

The development followed a petition submitted by the Lagos State branch of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), alleging that the pastor began sexually abusing the teenager when she was 14 years old.
According to the petition dated October 26, 2026, and addressed to the Divisional Police Officer of Shimawa Police Division, the alleged abuse started after the girl’s mother, Bukola Rachel Omogbolahan, married the suspect and moved with her children into his residence in the Ologbo Ark area of Shimawa, Ogun State.
The organisation alleged that the abuse continued even after the teenager turned 16, while the suspect allegedly threatened to kill her if she reported the incidents.
The threats reportedly left the teenager and her elder brother fearful for their safety.
CDHR called on the police to investigate the allegations, protect the children, prosecute the suspect if found culpable and ensure the minors receive appropriate child-protection and social-welfare support.
In an update, the organisation disclosed that the Shimawa DPO received and acknowledged its petition on October 27.
It said the police subsequently invited the suspect, his wife and another Celestial Church pastor for questioning. After their statements were obtained, the suspect and the victim’s mother were reportedly detained.
The teenager was also taken to Shimawa General Hospital on October 28 for medical examinations, with the results subsequently handed over to the investigating police officers.
CDHR further disclosed that the case files were transferred to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran on October 30 before the matter was moved to the D3 Gender Unit in Oke-Ilewo.
According to the organisation, Idowu allegedly admitted during questioning that he had engaged in sexual acts with the teenager.
The suspect was quoted as telling investigators that he had “only fingered her (name withheld) once and only had sex with her once.”
The organisation said the pastor remained in police custody as investigations continued.
CDHR added that it had been informed that it would be notified of the date and time of the suspect’s arraignment after the investigation was concluded.
The group also expressed concern over the safety of the teenager and her brother, particularly in view of the alleged death threats contained in its petition.
Meanwhile, efforts to obtain comments from the Investigating Police Officer, Superintendent of Police Kafaya, and the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, were unsuccessful.
As of the time of filing this report, messages sent to the police spokesperson seeking clarification had not received a response.
