Tinubu To Reshuffle Cabinet, Drop 5 Ministers, Create New Ministries

President Bola Tinubu is expected to implement a cabinet reshuffle any moment from now, sources with knowledge of the development told Ibom Focus.

The two independent sources told Ibom Focus that the President intends to rejig his cabinet, which he inaugurated in August because some of the appointees are “struggling in their portfolios and unprepared for the job”.

Tinubu had in November warned cabinet members and other top appointees against under-performance during a Cabinet Retreat at the Conference Centre of the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.

“You will sign a bond with me, If you are performing, nothing to fear, if you miss the objective, if you don’t perform, you leave us,” Tinubu declared at the 3-day retreat.

While redefining the priority areas of his administration, President Tinubu had charged his Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, to reactivate the “Presidential Delivery Tracker”, to track and report the performances of his cabinet members.

Ibom Focus further gathered that the President could use the current corruption scandal presently linked to two ministers, that of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, to implement the changes.

While President Tinubu, suspended Edu from office, Tunji-Ojo has also been linked to a firm, New Planet Projects Ltd, which received N438 million as “consultancy fees” related to the National Social Register contract, part of the controversial N3 billion contracts awarded by Edu.

This online news medium can not immediately confirm the ministers that will be fired from the cabinet, one of the sources said “As many as five could be dropped.”

Ibom Focus also gathered that president may create a new ministries and appoint ministers.

Another source from the presidency who spoke with Ibom Focus said, nothing will make president to touch FCT minister, Wike and his counterpart, Minister of work, Umahi.

The new ministries is expected to create any moment from now.
