Amaechi: “Only a Madman Will Vote for Tinubu in 2027”
Former Minister of Transportation and ADC vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, declaring that Nigerians who are satisfied with the administration should vote for him in 2027.
Speaking at an ADC town hall meeting in Edo on Thursday, Amaechi described the removal of the petrol subsidy as “reckless” and called on Nigerians to vote against Tinubu over the economic hardship in the country.
Amaechi said: “I read on social media that it is in 2027 that we will know how many madmen we have in Nigeria. It is only a madman that can vote for Tinubu.
“If you are not mad, then Tinubu should not win here.”
He argued that Tinubu’s decision to remove the petrol subsidy should not be described as courageous, insisting that the policy had contributed to the hardship being experienced by Nigerians.
“There is a difference between courage and recklessness. Tinubu wasn’t courageous; he was reckless,” Amaechi said.
The ADC chieftain also lamented the rising cost of living, saying many Nigerians can no longer afford basic necessities.
He further criticised the country’s energy sector, saying Nigeria had failed to turn its vast crude oil and natural gas resources into sustainable economic prosperity.
Amaechi maintained that Nigeria needs policies capable of increasing domestic production and reducing pressure on citizens and businesses.
He said Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate, would restore “production subsidy” to support local industries and ease the economic burden on Nigerians if elected in 2027.
