IBOM FOCUS reports that War In Akwa Ibom, Lawmaker hospitalised, Security Killed
A councillor in Akwa Ibom has been taken to hospital and his security guard shot dead after unidentified gunmen attacked the legislator’s home Saturday.
The condition of Hon. Ekopimo Edo, Deputy Chief Whip at Nsit Ubium Legislative Council, is unknown.
Representing Ubium South 1, the legislator said the attackers numbered more than ten and invaded his house at about 1 am on 31 July.
He said the armed robbers killed his guard and forcefully gained entrance into the house where they carted away borrowed money and personal property including laptops and land documents.
Reports say the Councillor was mutilated and is receiving medical care at a hospital.

Hon. Edo wrote on Facebook: “Armed robbers numbering over 10 men invaded our compound and carry-out their bad mission on me.
“First they killed our security man and ask me to open door else they will kill me as they did to our security man.
“They forcefully entered my room and left with money that was meant for supply that I was not given again, I withdrew the money to return some amount to the lender house that I got it from they left with three phones, land documents, laptop and bag.
“Father above all thank you May they never have peace in their life. I can’t be reached for now, except those that know my house can come later when I’m back from hospital or contact Kanny Okoko Thank you God.”
