Senate Tells Mint to Reinstate Worker Sacked In 2008 With Immediate Effect
The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has directed the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc to reinstate a worker sacked in 2008, Philip Kemdel, and pay him all his salaries and other entitlements over the years within two weeks.
The panel said NSPM had no moral justification to sack the innocent Nigerian.

The decision of the Senate panel was sequel to a petition laid on the floor of the red chamber by Senator Istianus Gyang on April 30, this year.
Kemdel had in his petition against the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc, alleged that his appointment was wrongful terminated by NSPM in 2008.
He requested that the Senate look into the matter by urging the NSPM to reinstate him and pay all his salaries and entitlements.
Justifying the reason for his committee’s action in an interview with our correspondent on Friday, the panel chairman, Senator Ayo Akinyelure said the reason advanced by NSPM to justify its action was not tenable.
Akinyelure said, “How can someone who was alleged to have been absent from work for 20 minutes be sacked just like that?
“This is a man that had worked in the organisation for 11 years with a meritorious award only to be sacked for allegedly not found at his duty post for 20 minutes.
“The man had never been given any query or warning. It is unacceptable.
Speaking with our correspondent after the verdict of the Senate panel, the sacked worker expressed happiness over the decision of the committee.
He said, “I am also using this opportunity to plead with all distinguished senators and the principal officers to kindly approve the report of the committee whenever it is submitted for consideration and approval.”
