Nigeria Hails The Islamic Republic Of Iran On The Anniversary Of Its Republic Day
The Honourable Minister of State of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu OON, extends warm congratulations to His Excellency, Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the occasion of the anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Republic Day.
This significant occasion marks the historic referendum of 1979 through which the people of Iran affirmed the establishment of the Islamic Republic, a defining moment that shaped the country’s political identity, governance structure, and national trajectory. Over the decades, Iran has demonstrated resilience in navigating complex regional and global dynamics while advancing its national priorities and development aspirations.
Nigeria acknowledges Iran’s important role in regional and international affairs and commends its continued engagement in multilateral diplomacy aimed at promoting peace, stability, and constructive global cooperation.
Nigeria and the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoy cordial and mutually beneficial relations, anchored on shared interests and sustained diplomatic engagement. Both countries have maintained cooperation across key sectors, including trade, energy, education, science and technology, and cultural exchange.
Nigeria reaffirms her commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran through enhanced diplomatic exchanges, expanded economic cooperation, and deeper people-to-people engagement. We remain confident that the enduring partnership between both countries will continue to grow in the years ahead.
Nigeria wishes to also seize this opportunity to reaffirm its call for the de-escalation of the unfortunate crisis that have caused the destruction of lives and property.
On this important occasion, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria extend their best wishes to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran for continued peace, progress, and national prosperity.
