POWA Visit: IGP Disu Applauds Support for Officers, Families

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on Tuesday received the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Olufumilola Mutiat Disu, alongside her delegation during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, the IGP described the engagement as a strong show of unity and support, commending POWA for its critical role in enhancing the welfare of police families. He noted that the association has continued to ease the challenges of police service by supporting officers’ households, nurturing their children, and promoting stable home environments.
The visit also highlighted POWA’s renewed drive to expand its impact nationwide, including plans to roll out a free eye care programme, strengthen welfare initiatives, and promote mental and emotional well-being. Other focus areas include economic empowerment, youth development, and the promotion of national unity.
IGP Disu further urged members of the association to deepen collaboration in order to build stronger welfare structures that will improve the overall well-being of police personnel and their families.
