Nigeria To Host 8th Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Nigeria will host the 8th Nigeria–European Union (EU) Ministerial Dialogue on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Tafawa Balewa House, Abuja.
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, will lead the Nigerian delegation, while the European Union team will be headed by Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission. Ms. Kallas is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
As part of her visit, the EU High Representative will hold a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Affairs Minister to review Nigeria–EU relations and explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation across key sectors.
She is also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening ties between both parties.
Following the Ministerial Dialogue, a joint press briefing will be addressed by Ambassador Tuggar and Ms. Kallas, where they will highlight the outcomes of the meeting and outline areas of expanded collaboration.
The dialogue will serve as a strategic platform for both Nigeria and the European Union to deepen engagement in critical areas such as trade and investment, security, governance, migration, climate action, and sustainable development.
The Ministry noted that the engagement reflects the strong and evolving partnership between Nigeria and the European Union, built on shared values of multilateralism, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation. It also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening this relationship.

The statement was signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, anipr.
