Suspected bandits have reportedly killed a forest guard identified as Samuel during a violent attack on Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred after forest guards received intelligence about a possible invasion by armed men believed to be bandits. The operatives were said to have moved into the community area to pre-empt the attack when they were ambushed by the assailants.

However, during the encounter, Samuel was reportedly shot dead. Residents said the attackers, who were heavily armed, later set more than five motorcycles ablaze. As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Kwara State Police Command.

It was earlier reported that Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State was under attack by bandits. At least one person has been confirmed dead, though the full extent of casualties remains uncertain at the time of filing this report.

Details of the incident are still emerging, and security agencies have yet to issue an official statement. Koro borders Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, raising concerns among residents of neighbouring communities.

Local authorities have urged residents to avoid the area and remain vigilant as the situation continues to unfold.
