Troops Kill Two Terrorists, Recover Four AK-47 Rifles, Eight Motorcycles in Sokoto
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two terrorists and recovered four AK-47 rifles, eight motorcycles and other items during clearance operations in Sokoto State.
The operations, conducted on October 15, 2026, targeted terrorist groups operating in different locations within the state.
During the operation, troops of Sector 2 made contact with terrorists at Waria Forest, leading to a firefight in which one terrorist was neutralised.
The troops subsequently recovered two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other items from the location.
In a separate encounter at Sarma Village, the troops engaged another group of terrorists, neutralising one of them while others fled, abandoning their equipment.
A further search of the area led to the recovery of six additional motorcycles, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, one communication device and other sundry items.
The military said the successes demonstrated the continued commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across its joint operations area.
The Theatre Command appreciated members of the public for their continued support and cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
