Trump Threatens Total Destruction of Iran Over Alleged Assassination Threats

United States President Donald Trump has issued a sweeping and provocative warning to Iran, threatening the country with total destruction if any assassination attempt against him is carried out.

Trump made the remarks while responding to a reporter’s question about alleged threats from Iran’s leadership, as well as reports of continued unrest and repression within the country. The reporter referenced claims that Iranian authorities were “burning thousands of protesters alive” and had allegedly issued an assassination threat against Trump over the weekend.

Responding, Trump said Iran “shouldn’t be doing it,” adding that he had already issued what he described as clear notifications and instructions. He then escalated his rhetoric, declaring that any harm to him would result in catastrophic consequences for Iran.

“Anything ever happens, we’re going to blow; the whole country is going to get blown up,” Trump said.

Trump also used the opportunity to criticise former President Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to respond decisively to threats made against American leaders.

“Originally Biden should have said something. When they made a statement, we always said, why isn’t Biden saying anything? Because he didn’t,” Trump stated.

Emphasising that political differences should not override national security, Trump argued that leaders have a responsibility to defend one another.
“A president has to defend a president. Even if it’s not a president, but somebody like they did with me, I would absolutely hit them so hard,” he said.

Trump concluded by reiterating that firm directives were already in place to deal with any such situation.

“But I have very firm instructions. Anything happens, they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth,” he warned.

The remarks are expected to further heighten tensions in U.S.–Iran relations, coming amid increased scrutiny of Iran’s internal repression and its confrontational posture toward Western leaders.

Trump has also recently called for regime change in Iran following protests that have rocked the country in recent weeks.

“It’s time to look for new leadership in Iran,” he told Politico in an interview.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Trump’s statements.

Trump’s comments follow a defiant address by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who accused Trump of encouraging unrest in the country and described him as “a criminal” responsible for casualties, damages and slander against the Iranian nation. Khamenei said key agitators had been detained, while Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported that protests had largely subsided.

In his interview with Politico, Trump denounced Khamenei, describing him as “a sick man who should run his country properly and stop killing people.”
