ADC Crisis: Isaac Fayose Urges Atiku to Step Down for Peter Obi, Join NDC Ahead of 2027 Election

Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has appealed to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to put aside his presidential ambition and support Peter Obi under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) platform ahead of the 2027 general election.

Fayose made the appeal following Thursday’s Federal High Court judgment in Abuja, which nullified the leadership of the Senator David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and invalidated actions taken by the party executives.
In a public message directed at Atiku, Fayose urged the former Vice-President to carefully study the court judgment, alleging that there were questionable aspects to the ruling.
“Atiku should go and study that judgment very well; he will notice something fishy. Our judiciary is no longer independent,” he said.
He also expressed concern over what he described as the growing distraction of Nigerian youths by online controversies instead of issues affecting the country.
Fayose called on Atiku to work with Obi through the NDC, arguing that a united opposition would stand a better chance of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
“Please, Atiku, this is the time to join forces with Peter Obi in the NDC to pursue the APC out of power,” he added.
The court judgment has created fresh uncertainty around the ADC’s leadership structure and its preparations for the 2027 elections, including the process that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.
However, the party has indicated its intention to appeal the ruling at the appellate court.
Fayose’s appeal comes amid renewed discussions about possible opposition alliances and strategies following the court’s decision.
