Tinubu Praises Umo Eno’s Vision, Commissions Akwa Ibom International Airport Terminal

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as a great man of conscience, commitment and vision, praising his determination to transform the state’s aviation sector and accelerate infrastructural development.
Tinubu gave the commendation on Friday during his one-day working visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he inaugurated the new international terminal of Victor Attah International Airport and commissioned other major projects executed by the Eno administration.
The President, who arrived in Akwa Ibom dressed in the state’s traditional attire, was received by Governor Eno, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other prominent political leaders and dignitaries.
He was accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Vice President Kashim Shettima and his wife; governors; senators; members of the House of Representatives; ministers and other senior government officials.
Speaking before unveiling the international terminal, Tinubu commended Governor Eno for his vision and commitment to making the airport project a reality.
The President recalled that the governor had personally approached him to seek approval for international flight operations at the airport, noting that he granted the request after reviewing the memorandum presented to him.
“You are a great man of conscience, commitment and vision. You have to continue this airport and make it a reality today. When you approached for the permission to grant international flights, I didn’t hesitate. I read the memo, I had the consent. You have the history. You have the performance,” Tinubu said.
He described the inauguration as the fulfilment of a vision, expressing confidence that the facility would promote human movement, global connectivity, economic prosperity and integration.
Tinubu said he was honoured to witness the completion of the project before formally declaring the facility inaugurated to the glory of God Almighty.
The President also described his visit as a homecoming, recalling his time in Akwa Ibom State when he worked as an auditor with Mobil.
He further commended Senate President Akpabio for his leadership and contributions to legislative coordination at the National Assembly.
Other projects commissioned during the visit included the Aviation Village, the International Airport Hospital and the 14.5-kilometre Nsit Atai–Okobo Road.
The projects form part of the major infrastructure initiatives undertaken by the Eno administration to strengthen transportation, healthcare delivery and economic development in Akwa Ibom State.
The presidential visit also marked a significant moment in the state’s political history, breaking a 14-year gap since a sitting Nigerian President last undertook a working visit to Akwa Ibom State to commission projects in 2012.
