“I Woke Up Happy Seeing Tinubu In Saudi Arabia For Umrah; This Is Why We Insisted On Muslim-Muslim Ticket” – Sani Jingir

A prominent Islamic cleric in Plateau State, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has expressed happiness over President Bola Tinubu’s presence in Saudi Arabia for the Umrah pilgrimage, saying it justifies the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election.

In a video clip seen by Ibom Focus, Jingir said he was delighted to see Tinubu in Mecca, dressed in the traditional white clothing worn by Muslim pilgrims.
According to the cleric, the pilgrimage demonstrates that everyone is equal before Allah, irrespective of their political position, wealth or social status.
He noted that the President, ministers, governors and ordinary workers all wear the same clothing during the religious exercise, adding that nobody is superior to another before God.
“I woke up very happy that I saw Ahmed Bola Tinubu at Mecca. He is in Umrah. Who is the president of Nigeria now? Ahmed Bola Tinubu,” Jingir said.
He further argued that Tinubu’s participation in the pilgrimage would not have been possible if Nigerians had elected a president of another religious faith, insisting that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was important.
The cleric also expressed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that he and the labourers working in his household would vote for the President.
“The election that will happen. My vote is one and the labourers’ vote in my house is one. They will vote for the President,” he added.
Ibom Focus had earlier reported Jingir’s support for the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket following a reported N600 million donation to him by Tinubu’s aide, Ibrahim Masari.
