BREAKING: Court Declares Okorocha Imo West APC Senatorial Candidate, Orders Uzodimma to Step Aside

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has ruled in favour of former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, declaring him the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Imo West.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu held that evidence before the court showed that Okorocha secured the majority of votes during the party’s primary election conducted on May 18.

The court consequently directed the APC leadership to submit Okorocha’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its senatorial candidate for Imo West.
It also ordered INEC to recognise Okorocha’s candidacy and directed Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop parading himself as the APC’s senatorial candidate for the district.
The ruling deals a major blow to Uzodimma’s senatorial ambition ahead of the January 16, 2027, senatorial election.
BREAKING: Court Rules Against Uzodimma, Declares Rochas Okorocha Winner of Imo West APC Primary
Governor Hope Uzodimma has suffered a setback in his bid to represent Imo West Senatorial District after the Federal High Court in Abuja declared Rochas Okorocha the winner of the APC senatorial primary.
The court, presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, ruled on Thursday that the evidence presented established that Okorocha won the majority of votes cast during the APC primary held on May 18.
Justice Egwuatu ordered the APC leadership to forward Okorocha’s name to INEC as the party’s candidate for the senatorial district.
The judge further directed the electoral commission to recognise Okorocha as the candidate and restrained Uzodimma from continuing to present himself as the APC’s senatorial flag bearer for Imo West.
The development comes ahead of the senatorial elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, and could reshape the political contest in Imo West.
