TCN Reconstructs Collapsed 132kV Towers, Restores Karu–Keffi–Akwanga Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has completed the reconstruction of three collapsed 132kV transmission towers and restored electricity transmission along the Karu–Keffi–Akwanga line.

The company disclosed that the reconstruction of towers T78, T79 and T80 was completed at 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
According to TCN, the restoration has re-established the transmission pathway serving the 132/33kV Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Stations.
The three towers collapsed on October 7, 2026, following heavy rainfall and strong winds, disrupting the affected transmission infrastructure.
TCN’s maintenance team subsequently undertook reconstruction work to restore the damaged facilities and return the transmission line to service.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining and upgrading its transmission infrastructure to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of bulk electricity across Nigeria.
