Three Transmission Towers Collapse Along Karu-Keffi-Akwanga Line, Keffi, Akwanga Feeders Hit
Power supply to customers connected to the Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Substations has been affected following the collapse of three towers along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV transmission line.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said Towers T78, T79 and T80 collapsed at about 4:06pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during heavy rain and windy conditions.
The incident caused the 132kV single-circuit transmission line to trip on overcurrent relay protection. TCN subsequently isolated the affected line as a safety measure.
As a result, all 33kV outgoing feeders at the 132/33kV Keffi and Akwanga substations are currently unavailable, meaning no load can be nominated on the affected feeders until further notice.
TCN engineers are already at the site assessing the damage and determining the requirements for the commencement of repair and restoration work.
The transmission company expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to electricity consumers and assured affected customers that every effort is being made to restore power supply as soon as possible.
Further updates will be issued as restoration efforts continue.
