NiDCOM Urges Nigerians in France to Remain Calm, Respect Local Laws

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has urged Nigerians living in France to remain calm, maintain peace and respect the country’s laws amid concerns affecting their communities.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, gave the advice in a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, by the Commission’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
Dabiri-Erewa called on Nigerians in France to exercise restraint, uphold public order and conduct themselves responsibly, warning against confrontation, violence and provocation.
She also urged Nigerians to cooperate peacefully with lawful instructions from French authorities and follow verified safety information.
The NiDCOM boss cautioned against spreading rumours and unverified reports, particularly on social media, stressing the importance of responsible communication during sensitive situations.
She further encouraged Nigerians to respect their neighbours and other communities, irrespective of nationality, religion or background.
According to her, Nigerians living abroad are ambassadors of their country and have a shared responsibility to protect Nigeria’s image while respecting the laws and institutions of their host country.
Dabiri-Erewa also advised Nigerians whose safety or rights might be at risk to seek appropriate legal assistance and contact relevant emergency or consular services when necessary.
She called on Nigerian community leaders, families, students, professionals and associations across France to promote peace, unity and responsible conduct.
The NiDCOM chief further urged community leaders to work together to sustain calm, exercise caution and maintain order among Nigerians in the country.
