2027 Elections: NDC Names Peter Obi, Kwankwaso to Key Positions in Campaign Council
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, naming its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to key positions in the campaign structure.
Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the party, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, was appointed chairman of the council, while Obi will serve as co-chairman. Kwankwaso was named co-vice-chairman, with the party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, appointed vice-chairman.
The party also named Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim as Director-General of the presidential campaign, while its National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, was also listed among the members of the campaign structure.

According to the party, the council will oversee campaign activities across the country, provide strategic direction and mobilise support for its vision of building a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”
The NDC said its campaign would prioritise people-centred policies and national development as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities for the party’s presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assembly candidates nationwide as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
