Day-old Baby Found Dead In Waste Dump
Residents of Kobi Street, near Wunti Gate in Bauchi, were left in disbelief after the body of a day-old baby was found abandoned in a refuse dump.
According to eyewitnesses, the infant was wrapped in two black leather bags and left behind a local shop.
Musa Jibrin, a community leader, shared the chilling discovery with journalists on Friday morning.
“I was told that the lifeless body of a baby girl was found behind Alhaji Babangida Mai Coca-Cola’s shop.
“When I got there, I saw the baby enclosed in two black leather bags. I immediately informed the Mai Gunduma and reported the incident to the Police at Township Station,” he said.
Police officers from both Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium and Township Divisions quickly responded to the scene.
Following protocol, the community ensured the body was not disturbed until the police arrived to retrieve it for further investigation.
Ahmed Wakil, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, confirmed the discovery, stating that officers were deployed to secure the area and gather evidence.
He assured the public that a thorough investigation would be carried out to identify those responsible for the heartbreaking act.
