Angry Man Stabs Aunt To Death
A tragic incident has shocked the residents of Bagadaza Quarters in Gombe State, where a 31-year-old man, Jonathan James, is alleged to have fatally stabbed his 65-year-old aunt, Ramatu Musa.
The horrifying event reportedly took place in the early hours of October 21, 2024.
According to a statement from the Gombe State Police Command, the incident was quickly attended to by a team from the Pantami Division.
The patrol team, led by ASP Girema Yahaya, responded to a distress call received around 2:15 a.m., rushing to the scene to assess and address the situation.
The spokesperson for the Gombe Police Command, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the details of the case, noting that investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
As the community grapples with this shocking event, local authorities are urging residents to stay calm while they continue their inquiries.
“Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital in Gombe,” Abdullahi said in a statement on Friday.
“The suspect, Jonathan James, was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the crime was recovered as evidence,” he added.
The police spokesperson reported that the victim had sustained chest injuries from the stabbing, which led to her death.
“The police are taking this case very seriously, and the suspect will soon face charges in court for prosecution,” ASP Abdullahi added.
While noting that the motive behind the fatal stabbing is still unclear, the command assured the public that justice will be served in the case.
“We condemn this heinous act and will ensure that the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law,” said ASP Abdullahi.
