WATCH: Woman Arrested For Stealing 7-Day-Old Baby At Naming Ceremony
Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a female suspect, Khadija Aliyu for stealing a 7-day-old baby girl at a naming ceremony in Keffi.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel who confirmed the arrest said the incident occurred behind the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Keffi on Saturday September 28, 2024.
According to the statement, the suspect who has been claiming to be pregnant was arrested by police operatives attached to Keffi Division of the Police Force.
“While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested,” the statement reads further.
Similarly, the police spokesman also confirmed the arrest of an ex-convict, Hussaini Mohammed, for stealing motorcycles.
Mohammed, a resident of Keffi was arrested by police operatives of the Angwan Lambu Division.
“During the investigation, three motorcycles suspected to be stolen items were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has called on members of the public with cases of stolen motorcycles to visit Angwan Lambu Division at keffi with proof ownership and lay claims to the items,” the statement added.
