Economic Hardship: Stop Complaining, Go Back To Farming – APC Chieftain Tells Nigerians
The Ebonyi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has said that farming is the only panacea to avert the increasing hunger facing Nigerians.
Emegha made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital on Wednesday.
He called on Nigerians to go back to crop and livestock farming, explaining that if every family turns their backyard into vegetable garden and poultry farm it would reduce the increase in demand to meet household needs.
He emphasized that the country’s present challenge would be surmount with collective contributions of all Nigerians irrespective of class.
‘”Things are hard in the country, but the much we can do is to be bold and pull our ideas together to overcome the challenges.
“’I want everybody to embrace agriculture; let’s feed first, these are things we can do by ourselves and I have told my family that all of us have to go into food cultivation.
“If you have food, I don’t think you will count yourself among the people that are lacking.
“Let’s embark fully into agricultural activities and reduce our engagement on English things.
Reacting to the call for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, due to rising hardship, the party chairman said that hunger has no party and challenged Nigerians to return to crop and livestock farming.
