    Carpenter Beats Apprentice To Death

A carpenter has allegedly beaten up his apprentice identified simply as Onome to death for coming late to work in Delta community.

The incident occurred along New Ogorode Road Sapele Area of Delta State.

A sour told our correspondent that the suspect also accused his apprentice for stealing his ATM card.

“When the apprentice got home after work, he complained to his parents that he was not feeling too fine and narrated what happened to him at his place of work.

“The parents of the apprentice decided to take him to the hospital for checkup but before this arrangement could be concluded, the apprentice died. As the news got to the hearing of the workshop owner, he took to his heels,” the source said.

The incident was eventually reported to the Police in Sapele and a police source at the state command confirmed the incident, noting that the case was being investigated and efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspect.

When contacted for comment, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached on his lines as of the time of filing this report.
