The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade has sworn in Justice Akon Ikpeme as the substantive Chief Judge of Cross River.

Swearing in the Chief Judge on Monday at the Executive Chamber, Governor Ayade charged her to be reasonable for all to push the state legal executive ahead.

The Governor noticed that the state was going through a difficult period in its set of experiences and would need the legal executive to remain malevolence allowed to hold hands with the Executive and Legislative arms to handle those difficulties.

Portraying the new Chief Judge as the correct individual for the plum work, the Governor said Ikpeme was being confirmed at the right time and that in spite of the scenes of the most recent nine months which neutralized her, she was to be sure God’s decision.

“As God contacted my heart over your matter, so has He touched the core of all other persons for your sake. You should get behind you any experience you went through over the span of your rise.

“As a woman of God, I anticipate that you should administer equity genuinely, realizing that it was God who faced your conflicts. We need no interruption again in our legal executive”, he said.

Reacting, Justice Ikpeme commended the Governor and members from the House of Assembly for making the day a reality and portrayed the Governor as others conscious.

“Let me guarantee His Excellency and individuals of Cross River State that the legal executive under my supervision will help out the Executive and the Legislative arms to move Cross River state forward.

“We have gotten the past behind us. It is imprudent to abide there. Each member from the Cross River State Judiciary will be conveyed along and we will guarantee Justice and decency to all,” she said.

Recall that the State House of Assembly had, nine months prior, rejected Justice Ikpeme based on her ethnic background, inciting the Governor to swear on two Junior Judges on acting capacity between March 2020 to January 2021.

The House of Assembly, nonetheless, had a difference at the top of the priority list fourteen days back and affirmed her as a substantive Chief Judge, purportedly because of pressing factor from the National Judicial Commission which allegedly demanded the most Senior Judge in the state legal executive, Ikpeme, as a considerable Chief Judge.
