Women Beat Husbands To Coma
The Lagos State Government has revealed that at least 70 husbands have reported being beaten by their wives in the past year.
Additionally, 592 women reported being victims of domestic violence by their husbands during the same period.
This information was shared on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Cecilia Dada.
Speaking at a ministerial press briefing to mark Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s first year in office of his second term, Commissioner Dada explained that her ministry recorded a total of 662 domestic violence cases over the last year.
Of these cases, 274 (27 involving men and 247 involving women) were directly reported to the ministry, while 388 (27 involving men and 361 involving women) were reported through the ministry’s toll-free line.
Further emphasising the issue, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, noted that between September 2022 and July 2023, at least 340 men reported experiencing domestic violence at the hands of their wives.
