Thousands of residents of Uburu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have trooped out to welcome the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, during a spontaneous homecoming reception held in his honour.

The colourful reception took place on November 2, 2026, following the Minister’s series of engagements with stakeholders in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Residents from different communities across Uburu and Ohaozara gathered to celebrate their illustrious son, expressing pride in his appointment as Minister of Works and his contributions to national infrastructure development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The gathering, which was characterised by excitement and jubilation, provided an opportunity for the people to appreciate President Tinubu for entrusting Umahi with the responsibility of overseeing federal road infrastructure across the country.
Speaking at the event, prominent stakeholders, including Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, alongside other community leaders, commended Umahi for his service and contributions to national development.
They expressed satisfaction with the Federal Government’s attention to road infrastructure, particularly in the South-East, where poor road conditions have remained a major concern for residents, motorists, traders and business operators.
The speakers also applauded President Tinubu for recognising Umahi’s experience in infrastructure development and giving him the opportunity to serve at the federal level.
They maintained that the appointment had further strengthened the region’s participation in national development and expressed confidence in the Minister’s capacity to deliver on his mandate.
The residents subsequently declared their support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing the administration’s infrastructure investments and the opportunity given to their son to contribute to the country’s development.
The reception followed Umahi’s stakeholder engagements in Abakaliki, where discussions centred on political and developmental issues affecting Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large.
