Tinubu Campaign Rally: Umahi Highlights 348km Completed Roads, 4,084km Ongoing Projects

…President urges Nigerians to obtain PVCs, vote APC in 2027 as party presents flags to seven Northwest governors

The Federal Government has completed 348 kilometres of inherited and newly initiated road projects, while construction is ongoing on another 4,084 kilometres, with 1,811 kilometres of projects partially completed, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has disclosed.
Umahi made the disclosure on Saturday, October 24, 2026, during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North West Zonal Presidential Campaign at the Kaduna Township Stadium.

The rally, attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, lawmakers, party leaders and supporters, featured presentations on the administration’s infrastructure achievements and calls for political support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Umahi, who also serves as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, highlighted the Federal Government’s road development programme and its potential to improve transportation, commercial activities and economic growth across the Northwest.

According to the minister, the figures reflect the scale of the administration’s infrastructure interventions while underscoring the need for sustained funding, effective supervision and timely completion of ongoing projects.
He explained that improved road networks would strengthen connections between agricultural communities, commercial centres and industrial hubs, while reducing transportation difficulties and helping businesses move goods more efficiently.

The minister identified the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway as one of the major road corridors receiving attention under the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme.
He highlighted interventions along the expressway, including the 118-kilometre Lot 1, as well as sections in Kano and the 81-kilometre Tungan Maje–Jere alignment.
Umahi noted that improved conditions along the corridor would facilitate passenger movement, support the transportation of agricultural produce and manufactured goods, reduce vehicle operating costs and strengthen commercial relations between Kaduna, Kano and Abuja.
He also listed road projects in Kano State, including the Northern Bypass, the dualisation of the Kano–Maiduguri Road, Section I, covering Kano–Shuwarin, and the Yakasai–Badume–Damargu–Marken Jalli Road.

According to him, the projects are important for connecting rural settlements to urban markets, improving accessibility and supporting economic activities within the region.
Umahi further explained that effective road infrastructure could create employment for engineers, technicians, construction workers, transport operators and suppliers, while encouraging investment in communities previously constrained by poor transportation networks.

He, however, stressed that the benefits of infrastructure investments would depend on timely project delivery, compliance with engineering standards, transparent management of public resources and sustainable maintenance.

Speaking at the rally, President Tinubu urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.
He also called on Nigerians to support the APC at all levels, declaring, “Vote APC from top to bottom, APC everywhere.”

The President reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development and other programmes aimed at improving the welfare and prosperity of Nigerians. He also commended governors, traditional rulers, youths and other stakeholders for their contributions to national development.
Vice President Shettima highlighted the administration’s development interventions across Northern Nigeria, particularly in road infrastructure, agriculture, regional connectivity and economic expansion.

He commended Tinubu for prioritising infrastructure challenges confronting the North, noting that better roads were essential for connecting farmers to markets, facilitating commercial activities and promoting inclusive development.

Shettima also expressed confidence in the continued support of Northern Nigeria for the President ahead of the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani urged Nigerians to assess government performance through verifiable achievements and tangible development outcomes rather than relying solely on narratives circulating on social media.
He encouraged citizens to examine completed projects, ongoing interventions and fulfilled commitments in evaluating the administration’s performance.

Similarly, the Director-General of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, urged political stakeholders and supporters to reject misinformation and promote constructive political participation.
A major highlight of the rally was the presentation of APC flags to seven governors from the Northwest seeking re-election.

The flags were presented by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as part of the party’s preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event attracted APC governors from across the country, lawmakers, traditional rulers, opinion leaders, women and youth groups, as well as other party stakeholders.

President Tinubu was accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while Vice President Shettima attended alongside his wife, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima.
The Kaduna rally provided the APC with a platform to promote its political agenda while highlighting the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme.

For the Northwest, the impact of the projects will ultimately depend on the timely completion and maintenance of roads, improved connectivity between communities and markets, and measurable benefits to transportation, agriculture, commerce and regional economic development.
