DSS Storms Suspected Terrorist’s Residence, Seizes Arms, Dollars, Others
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday executed a raid at the home of a suspected terrorist in the Gbeganu area, a suburb of Minna in Niger State.
The operation, carried out during daylight hours, alarmed local residents.
Sources close to the DSS operation revealed this was the third raid in under four years in the neighbouring areas of Nkangbe and Gbeganu, both situated in the Bosso Local Government Area.
The suspect in question is believed to have been storing weapons for a terrorist organisation, though specific details about the arms recovered remain undisclosed.
Eyewitnesses reported that a significant amount of cash, including US dollars, was confiscated during the raid. The suspect, previously known as a tricycle rider, was revealed to have been involved in terrorist activities.
In related events, 106 thugs have been convicted and 43 others remanded in Kano, and the Federal Government is seeking enhanced security for public schools to combat kidnapping.
Earlier incidents in the area include an October 2023 raid where a suspected terrorist engaged security forces in a gunfight before escaping and a June 2021 operation where a house linked to a notorious kidnapper was demolished after weapons were found.
When contacted, Niger State Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that they had no information regarding the recent raid.
