BREAKING : Real Reason We Can’t Released Nnamdi Kanu, Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has faulted the decision of the Court of Appeal which directed the stoppage of the trial of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

A five-member appeal panel of apex justices ruled on Friday that the Court of Appeal decision, which also ordered Kanu’s release from detention, violated legal procedure

The lower court had last year relied on the fact that Kanu was illegally brought into Nigeria and as such, all actions taken including the charges filed against him and his trial were unlawful.

But the Supreme Court Justices ruled that if Kanu wanted to point out issues of illegalities surrounding his trial, he ought to have done so by way of civil proceedings, maintaining that annulling the charge through a criminal appeal is not backed by legislation and as such the decision to order his release was based on sentiments.

The court however condemned the invasion of Kanu’s residence while he was still standing trial
