Simon Ekpa Blasts South-East Govs, Says They Lack Legitimacy To Negotiate For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

The Simon Ekpa-led self-styled Biafran government has told South-East governors and other leaders in the region to stay clear of negotiating for Biafra declaration and the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu with the Nigerian government.

Ekpa warned the governors and the leaders against such negotiations, claiming that they lacked legitimacy.

Ekpa disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday through his official X handle.

He said it was only his Biafran group that had the legitimate right to call for the release of Kanu and the declaration of Biafra.

He noted that those parading in the name of negotiating for Nnamdi Kanu’s release were sabotaging Biafra liberation.

According to him, “Those selfish politicians and traditional rulers who are now jumping up and shouting negotiation with Nigeria after sabotaging the Biafra liberation are warned never to speak again.”

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the South-East Governors Forum has agreed to meet with President Bola Tinubu and engage with the Nigerian government to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

This decision was contained in a communiqué issued after a six-hour meeting at the Enugu State Government House on Tuesday.

All five governors from the region – Peter Mbah (Enugu), Alex Otti (Abia), Prof Charles Soludo (Anambra), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Senator Hope Uzodimma (Imo) – attended the meeting and signed the five-point communiqué.

The forum also resolved to implement the report of the South East Security and Economic Summit held in Owerri on September 28, 2023, with actionable plans.
