2027: Ignore Social Media Reports, Nigerians Love Tinubu – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to disregard social media reports and opposition criticisms of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the president enjoys widespread public support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Idris made the remarks on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna State, organised in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The minister said the large crowd at the rally demonstrated the president’s popularity and Nigerians’ willingness to support his administration’s reform agenda.
“We have always been saying this: forget about all the social media news, forget about all the talk from the opposition. Asiwaju is loved by Nigerians,” Idris said.
He described Kaduna as a strategic location for the campaign flag-off, citing its historical significance as the former capital of Northern Nigeria.
According to the minister, the presence of supporters from different political backgrounds showed that Nigerians were willing to unite behind Tinubu and his policies.
Idris acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the country but expressed optimism that the administration’s ongoing reforms would eventually improve living conditions and strengthen the economy.
“There may be challenges at this moment, but we are moving away from that. We are consolidating on progress, and Nigeria is going to be better for it,” he said.
He added that the administration remained committed to achieving economic growth, improving living standards and creating opportunities for national development.
The minister described the enthusiasm at the rally as an encouraging sign for Tinubu’s re-election campaign, expressing confidence that Nigerians would give the president another term in office.
“Nigeria will vote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the second time, and Nigeria is going to march towards the prosperity that the president has promised all Nigerians,” he said.
Also speaking at the rally, the spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, said the large turnout reflected the party’s mobilisation efforts and the enthusiasm of its supporters.
Alake expressed confidence that the crowd’s energy would translate into electoral support for Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
“It is a very excited moment for most of us here. And I see the crowd here, lively. That is a pointer to what will happen in the next election,” he said.
The minister defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the president as a courageous leader who had taken difficult decisions to address longstanding economic challenges.
He said the policies were designed to reposition Nigeria for sustainable development and lay the foundation for future prosperity.
According to Alake, Nigerians were beginning to experience the benefits of the reforms, adding that the gains would continue to emerge.
“Now, it is the season for prosperity. Nigerians are beginning to see the results of those reforms, and they have been trickling in, and they will continue to trickle in,” he said.
Alake maintained that the administration’s policies would move the country towards economic recovery and greater prosperity.
