SERVICE CHIEFS: Buhari Writes NASS, Seeks Confirmation Of Appointments
Following the recent Appointment of new service chiefs, The nigeria President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari has sent the list to the National Assembly, seeking for their confirmation by the Senate.
Sen. Babajide Omoworare, The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Matters (Senate), on Friday disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja.
He stated that on 27 January, 2021 was the date the letter, addressed to the President of the Senate of nigeria.
This was done in assistance of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces of the Federation of Nigeria,” he said.
Omoworare said that this was in opposition to fears being communicated in specific quarters that the president had “circumvent” the National Assembly in the appointment of the service Chiefs and that he (Buhari) had no aim of looking for thought and affirmation of their Appointment.
“The nominees are: Maj.- Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, Rear Admr Awwal Gambo and AVM Isiaka Amao as Chief of Defense Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff separately, vide his previously mentioned letter.
Omoworare communicated the expectation that, as the National Assembly resume plenary on Feb. 9, the president’s correspondence for thought and affirmation of the selections would be attempted. (NAN)
According to source immediately the confirmation, all the service Chiefs would resume officially.
