BREAKING: Abuja On Fire As Okada Riders, Security Operatives Clash
Hundred of commercial motorcyclists clashed with policemen on Sunday in Karu, Jikwoyi road, close to St. Mary Catholic Church.
It was gathered that crisis erupted when the protesting motorcyclists popularly called Okada riders blocked the Nyanya-Karshi Road, leaving motorists stranded.
According to source who spoke with IBOM FOCUS said Policemen killed one okada man on Saturday evening in karu.
IBOM FOCUS gathered that, the protesters were burnt used tyres on the main road and also attacking security agents drafted to the scene with stones.
The development caused panic among residents and passersby who ran to safety.
Churches located in the area like Apostolic Church, Catholic Church and others were said to have locked locked their members inside the premises to avoid falling victims to the crisis.
Those most affected by the crisis are people living around Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo and Karshi among other settlements in the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
Karu is one of the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
