BREAKING: Nigerian Army ‘Fights Through Ambush By Bandits’ Kills Terrorists, Recovers Police ID, Arms, Others, Photos
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said it neutralised three terrorists and recovered three AK-47 rifles, among others.
The army said it also recovered 14 rounds of 7.62 mm special rounds, one motorcycle and a police constabulary identity card in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was stated in a press statement issued by Brigadier General Onyema Mwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, who disclosed that the terrorists were killed when security personnel raided their hideout after getting a distress call regarding their movement.
The statement reads: “Troops of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army deployed to quell the crisis in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state have neutralized 3 Bandits today Wednesday 12 July 2023.
“The troops obliterated the criminals when they gallantly fought through an ambush staged by the bandits, while responding to a distress call in Mangu general area.
“After successfully clearing the ambush, the troops recovered 3 x AK 47 Rifles,14 rounds of 7.62 mm Special rounds, 1 x Motorcycle and a Constabulary Police Identity card.
“Troops are currently on the trail of bandits who escaped with gunshot wounds during the fire fight.”
This comes barely 24 hours after SaharaReporters on reported that the House of Representatives had asked National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to declare a national emergency in Plateau State over incessant terrorist attacks.
The call was made following a motion of public importance on the need for urgent intervention to stop the killings in some local government areas in the state.
The House further requested that Operation Safe Haven identifies and evaluates all bandit cells in the state
The House mandated the Committees on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Defence, Army, Air Force, Police, and Legislative Compliance (when created) to oversee compliance and report monthly until the situation was brought under control.
