Finance Ministry Gets New Acting Permanent Secretary as Omachi Bows Out

The Federal Ministry of Finance has ushered in Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA, as Acting Permanent Secretary following the retirement of Raymond Omenka Omachi, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, a day after Omachi formally retired from the Federal Civil Service.

Speaking after assuming office, Danjuma expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for the confidence and opportunity to serve.
He equally acknowledged the support of the Ministry’s management and staff, promising to promote continuity, professionalism and effective administration.

Danjuma said accountability, discipline and teamwork would remain central to his approach, urging directors and staff to work together to achieve the Ministry’s objectives.
He called for stronger communication across departments, strict adherence to due process and a commitment to measurable results.
The Acting Permanent Secretary also underscored the importance of prudent management of public resources and improved service delivery in carrying out the Ministry’s responsibilities.

While acknowledging the contributions of his predecessor, Danjuma urged staff to maintain the spirit of cooperation and dedication required to sustain the Ministry’s work.
In his farewell address, Omachi described his retirement as an emotional milestone, saying the occasion reminded him of the relationships and shared experiences built throughout his career.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for their support during his years in public service.

Omachi also thanked the Ministry’s management and staff for their cooperation, stressing the need for continued dedication to duty and adherence to the principles of the Civil Service.
He encouraged workers to remain focused on their responsibilities and contribute to the country’s development through collective effort.
The Director of Human Resource Management, Aderonke Jaiyesimi, speaking on behalf of the management and staff, praised Omachi’s service and contributions to the Ministry.

Jaiyesimi conveyed the staff’s appreciation and wished the retiring Permanent Secretary good health, peace and happiness in the years ahead.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages and tributes from colleagues, who celebrated Omachi’s career and wished him success in retirement.

The event ended with a cake-cutting ceremony marking both his retirement and 60th birthday.
