It was learnt he was rushed to the health centre on campus but referred to Faith Mediplex Hospital on Airport Road, Benin, an affiliate of the university where he was confirmed dead.

Angry students mobilised to protest after vandalising the university’s health centre and security post but were prevailed upon by top officials of the university.

BIU’s Head of Communication and Brand Strategy Unit, Temi Esonamunjor, told The Nation: “The university will make an official press statement on the true state of things.”
