The management of the Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu State, has banned the wearing of shorts by staff and students to work and lectures.

The private university owned by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu also said that fixing finger nails, eye lashes, and other artificial materials on the body would no longer be allowed in the university henceforth.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Reverend Father Christian Anieke, announced this on Thursday, while addressing staff and students of the university and its group of institutions.

Fr Anieke, a professor warned that the management would not tolerate staff or students who wear tights and other materials that expose sensitive parts of their body, stressing that such acts distract other members of the university.

He made it clear that only black and brown hairs would be allowed on campus and gave the staff and students one month to adjust to the new rules or be disciplined.

The Vice Chancellor announced that henceforth, students will be expected to wear their faculty uniforms from Tuesdays to Fridays, pointing out the directive follows the abuse of the approval for students to wear cultural attires on Fridays.

He also warned that the exchange of phonographic materials is taboo in the institutions and anyone found violating it would severely dealt with.

Anieke advised the staff of the group of institutions to be proactive and cover up their lectures as the management would not have any excuse in case of disruption of the nation’s academic programmes.

The Vice Chancellor warned final year students against plagiarism, stressing that the university librarian had been directed to carry out plagiarism tests on all research works by the students and staff of the institutions, while enjoining students to report any staff who frustrate them in the completion of their projects.

The general prayers and meeting were attended virtually by all the students and staff of the university and its group of institutions.
