BREAKING: NDC Member Shot Dead In Campaign Office, Photo

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Thursday attended the burial of Ifeanyi Christopher Nwolie, a 43-year-old party member allegedly killed by suspected political thugs in Enugu State.

Nwolie, a native of Affa in Udi Local Government Area of the state, was shot during an attack on the NDC campaign office in the GRA area of Enugu on October 10, 2026. He died from his injuries two days later, on October 12.
Obi was accompanied to the burial by the party’s governorship candidate in Enugu State, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, alongside party leaders, candidates from across the Southeast and a large number of supporters.
According to a statement signed by Hon. Sampson Ukwu, media aide to Ohaa, Obi urged Nigerians to remember that death is inevitable, regardless of their political influence, social standing or financial status.
The former Anambra State governor prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family, particularly the deceased’s elderly mother. He also pledged to take full responsibility for her care and welfare.
Obi stressed that politics should never be treated as a do-or-die affair, expressing concern over the loss of life arising from political activities.
In his remarks, Ohaa welcomed those who attended the burial and said that despite the deep sorrow within the NDC family, Nwolie’s death would not be in vain.
Earlier, the NDC chairman in Udi Local Government Area disclosed that Ohaa personally settled the late party member’s hospital bills, which reportedly exceeded ₦5 million, and also covered the burial expenses.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to seeking justice for Nwolie and other victims of political violence in Enugu State.

“May the soul of Ifeanyi Christopher Nwolie rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
