Rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has expressed deep concern over the menace of cultism in the Nigerian music industry. Lamenting about the negative trend, Marley claimed that only a few Nigerian artists, including himself, are yet to join a cult. He mocked artists who joined cults for power and protection, pointing out that even those who influenced them to join still move around with police escorts for security. On his X handle, the rapper wrote, “We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”

Meanwhile, Naira Marley has previously debunked rumours that he is a cultist, claiming that he was once threatened by cultists for refusing to join
