BREAKING: NAF Aircraft Lands on Farm in Benue After Mission Against Suspected Kidnappers
A Nigerian Air Force helicopter on Wednesday made a precautionary landing on a farmland in Makurdi, Benue State, shortly after returning from an operation against suspected kidnappers.
The incident occurred at Utur Tse-Igboji community in Bar Council Ward, along the Welfare Quarters to Mopol 13 Ring Road.
The NAF said the helicopter had been deployed to provide close air support to surface forces conducting an operation against suspected kidnappers in Ogbadigbo, near the Enugu-Benue boundary.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the mission was successful, noting that the operation disrupted the activities of the suspected criminals and assisted ground troops.
He explained that following the completion of the mission, the pilot decided to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield as part of established operational and safety procedures.
The aircraft was later flown back to base.
The NAF said it would continue coordinated air and ground operations to combat criminal activities and improve security in affected communities.
