Tears As 2-Year-Old Boy And Man Drown In Separate Well Accidents

Kano — Tragedy struck Kano State on Wednesday as a two-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man lost their lives in separate well-related accidents.
The first incident occurred in Kwankwaso town, Madobi Local Government Area, where toddler Sa’idu Ahmad fell into a well. The Kano State Fire Service received an emergency call at about 12:15 p.m., according to the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.
“We received an emergency call from the Deputy Director, Fire Service, Rabiu Garba, reporting that a boy had drowned in a well, and we immediately sent our rescue team to the scene,” Abdullahi said. The boy was recovered unconscious and handed over to the Madobi Police Division through Umar Shehu. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
In a related incident on Wednesday evening, Suleiman Sani, 28, also drowned after falling into a well in Karofawa Yan Kifi Village, Ghari Local Government Area. Abdullahi said the Fire Service responded promptly to a distress call at the Ghari Fire Station.
“Our rescue team quickly mobilised to the scene. The victim was rescued unconscious but later confirmed dead by his parents. He was handed over to the Village Head of Karofawa, Alhaji Musa Aliyu, and the cause of the incident is under investigation,” Abdullahi added.
The Kano State Fire Service expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged the public to ensure that wells are properly covered to prevent similar tragedies.
