Information reaching Ibom Focus says that Lady Commits Suicide Over Boyfriend’s Death
A 22-year-old woman, Florence Vandi, has taken her own life allegedly in protest over the death of her boyfriend in Adamawa State.
According to reports, Florence, who hailed from Michika LGA, drank a substance suspected to be ‘Otapiyapiya’ (an insect killer) which led to her death.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying they received the report of the death on December 12.
Late Florence, who resided in Viniklang in Girei LGA, was said to have taken the decision in protest of the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who died after a brief illness while receiving treatment at a hospital.
Investigations revealed that Florence, until her death, was a health worker attached to the Girei Primary Health Care Centre.
The incident has caused sadness within the community, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed regret over the tragic event.
He advised members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to report any suspicious movements around their neighbourhoods to the police.
